10th AXDW Maraveya

"This collection is about creating the antithesis of what I see and feel in the city. It is about taking the dark and making it light. Everything unraveling back to a beautiful simplicity".
Vivianna Maravegias received her B.A. in Interior Design from Pratt Institute in New York City, yet always pursued her love for fashion by taking courses in fashion design, working at international fashion trade shows, and interning for label Alice + Olivia.
In her opinion, design is about something that is aesthetically pleasing, whether that be the space we live in or the clothes we wear. Her debut collection is influenced by the idea of ‘escape' from the structured city to island living. Everything from the nude tones inspired by the Aegean landscapes, white washed houses which define the architecture on the islands to the free-flowing fabrics that represent the movement of the sea, embody her theme. Vivianna's own upbringing has been a split between city life and island time, as she travels back and forth from Athens to the Ionian island of Kefalonia, where she is from.
She describes the Maraveya woman as "a driven career woman who is able to alternate from the structure of the city to the free spiritedness of island life, while being effortlessly chic and composed along the way".

Form unravels. Mind unwinds. The city meets the island and rigidity meets fluidity.
