10th AXDW Celia D.

Celia Dragouni was born in Athens in 23.3.1979. She studied in London, Mixed Media Art and Fine Arts in Chelsea college of Art and Design. After she finished her BA degree she moved to Paris to study Fashion and Textile design. She attended the AAS diploma at Parsons. When she graduated she started working at Sonya Rykiel in Paris for almost two years in the design department.

In September 2004 she launched her own label-brand known as Celiad. She has participated in the Athens fashion week that took place at Zappeion megaron in Athens. For three years she was a member of the Federation of greek designers and her collections have been presented in various shops in Greece.

At her atelier you can also find a complete collection of wedding gowns which are made ‘sur mesure' for the future brides. Celia's wedding gowns are unique, because they combine simplicity, which is the main virtue of Celia together with speciality in terms of fabrics and design. They are mostly made of fabrics such as silk satin, silk tulle, cotton tulle, chiffon and lace and have a vintage element. Some have original vintage lace applied on the fabric that has been found on vintage markets all around the world.

Her clothes are easy to wear and have a ‘girly bohemian' element. She works a lot with transparencies and fabrics such as chiffon satin, lace and silk jersey as well as handmade details applied on the fabric or even drawn upon it at times by Celia herself.
